This is the first setting for Beautifully Unqualified: an old San Francisco house and a woman with a vision for it. The staircase, the rooms, the doors, the little library, and the garden each have a story to work through.
The aim is not to make everything look new. It is to make the house more beautiful and more useful without losing what made it worth caring about in the first place.
These opening pages are project briefs, not completed renovation reports. Actual photographs, work records, and costs will take their place alongside the decisions as they are documented.
